How to Join:

If you play trumpet, violin, flute, clarinet, percussion, cello, piano, guitar—or almost any orchestral instrument—there’s a place for you to join Zion's Symphony! We welcome all youth from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (and friends) to participate in our youth orchestra.

- Weekly rehearsals (Local church building from 3:30 to 5:30 PM)

- Fun, spiritual, uplifting musicianship

- Fireside concerts, devotionals, multi-stake events

Who can join?

Zion's Symphony is open to all youth middle/high school aged. Typically the group is made up of just members due to the nature and conduct we hold ourselves to, but friends are welcome if they uphold our expectations (FSY Guidelines)

What instruments can we use?

Zion's Symphony performs with a very large range of instruments. Generally, any orchestral or band instrument is welcome. For specific questions, reach out to Jacob Brosemann

What is the commitment?

Musicians in Zion's Symphony are expected to attend every rehearsal, performance, and meeting. We understand that sometimes there are conflicts, so we require notifying the entire group in advance if a member is to be absent.

What is the dress code?

For performances, we will dress in standard concert black. Specifics are generally determined by the group before the performance. In terms of rehearsals, we will dress nice-casual, as it will be Sunday and we will be in the Stake Center.

Do I need to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?

Absolutely not! All are welcome to audition and try out for the group. However, this is with clear expectations that we practice in the church, play in church, and perform gospel centered music. Innappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and could result in expulsion from the symphony.

Zion's Symphony Leadership/volunteer roles

Conductor

Are you an adult interested in the opportunity to join Zion's Symphony as our official conductor? If so, please notify us immediately! Currently, Mia Brosemann is serving as our sub for the conductor. We are seeking someone with experience in leading groups of musicians, particularly in orchestral music, and who is familiar with brass, strings, woodwinds, and percussion. This individual will help guide the youth orchestra to perform at the highest level.

Parental Roles

Are you a parent willing to help, drive, or mentor? If so, please reach out! We can use all the support we can get to help our youth orchestra thrive. Audio/video skills are highly appreciated as well. Contact us to see how you can join Zion's Symphony and be part of our orchestral music community!

Become a Donor

Due to the nature of the group, we have a few expenses related to our youth orchestra, including travel, scores, equipment, and our website. Each score could cost up to $80, so any donations to help us continue our mission to join Zion's Symphony would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, if you have access to any instruments to loan, particularly large percussion instruments for our orchestral music, we would be very grateful to receive your help.
